Raised and hour's drive from New Orleans in Mississippi, Joe Johnson grew up with great respect for the blues, gospel, and country sound that has defined the area's artistic heritage. He began his career in the late 90s touring around Mississippi before settling for a while in the music-rich city of Hattiesburg. Since 2004, Joe has called the westside of Colorado Springs home, spending his first seven years fronting the rock and roll band Creating a Newsense, playing hundreds of shows on the road and close to home, in the process building an avid fanbase. Joe's music mixes saloon country and bluegrass gospel with dirty blues rock and lonesome ballads, along with his typical thread of lyricism and story telling.

Colorado native Jacob Klock was six years old when he received a VHS copy of Walt Disney’s “Fantasia” for Christmas. Inspired by the music featured in the film, he told his parents he wanted to learn the violin and began taking lessons. Jacob first worked with the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs in 2004 and currently serves as Concertmaster, a position he has held since 2010. He has regularly been featured as soloist with the group. Jacob is also a member of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, and local string quartet Hausmusik. Venturing into the non-classical realm, he has played fiddle with Colorado Springs alt-country outfit, Joe Johnson & The Colorado Wildfire since 2012. Jacob enjoys all genres of music past and present, from traditional to experimental, and is an avid collector of records and scores. He lives on the west side with the family.

The Academy Jazz Ensemble, conducted by Brad Eastin, is a full sized big-band that performs and educates in the greater Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak Region and along the Colorado Front Range. The members are public school teachers, private instructors, and other musicians from the area. The ensemble performs in schools, at festivals, and for private events. Their mission is to educate the public about jazz music; to provide an outlet for school music programs where teachers and students can perform and explore jazz music at a professional level; and to continue the tradition of this uniquely American art form. www.academyjazz.org
