Mission Opportunities at First Christian
FCC has many opportunities for giving towards mission - some are ongoing and others are special events.
Family Promise/IHN Week
Several times a year, FCC works in conjunction with Family Promise/IHN to provide housing for homeless families at the church. FCC volunteers fill a variety of roles: hosting, cooking, cleaning, and visiting with families working towards independence. Financial contributions are always welcome.

Mark Twain Elementary School
Mark Twain Elementary would like to thank First Christian Church for all you have done to support them this year! The students and staff are very appreciative! If you would like to continue to help, they are in need of the following donation items: colored pencils, markers, post-its, watercolor paper, new or gently used children’s books, Kleenex, copy paper, clothes/shoes for our new community pantry. Please put in the Mark Twain donation box located next to the Fellowship Hall.

Youth "Plarn" Project for our Homeless Neighbors
The youth have begun an exciting new ongoing service project, collecting clean single use plastic bags. They will be turning the bags into plarn (plastic yarn) which will eventually be crocheted into sleeping mats for the homeless. This project is a green way to make use of non-biodegradable bags. The mats can provide padding and insulation for homeless friends sleeping on the ground. Look for the bin in the Fellowship Hall.
Second Sunday Noisy Offering
On the second Sunday of every month, FCC receives a "Noisy Offering" for mission. Each month we choose one of our mission partners to feature, and our children collect change (and bills!) from the congregation during worship.
Church Volunteers
We are looking for people to assist in the office and/or in the church with light custodial work. If you have questions or interest in helping out, please contact Ministry Assistant.
Collection Bins/In-Kind Giving
Everyone is welcome to bring in-kind gifts of clothing, non-perishable foods, diapers, hygiene supplies, new toys, etc., to the collection bins in the Fellowship Hall. There are bins for the Tennyson Center, The Place, IHN/Family Promise, Mark Twain Elementary School. Donations are received year-round.
Addie's Kitchen
Addie's Kitchen freezer cooking sessions take place multiple times a year. FCC volunteers get together on a Saturday morning to prep hundreds of freezer meals. Some are paid for in advance by participants, who take them home to enjoy. Extra meals are made and kept at the church to be given to anyone who needs them (shut-ins, folks transitioning from homelessness, those dealing with family illness, etc.)
