Abendmusik is an auditioned community choir that was originally formed as an in-service performing group for music educators from School District 11 in Colorado Springs. The choir now consists of accomplished singers and musicians from all walks of life. Many charter members of the group remain as members today. Membership includes singers who range in age from early 20s to mid-80s, and all share a common love of performing choral music and creating musical experiences for audiences throughout the region. Repertoire covers the choral music spectrum from large sacred works to modern secular compositions. The choir has recently presented concerts of the masters, from Brahms, Bach, and Beethoven, to music of the swing era. The group also performs music composed and arranged by its own members. They have been featured in performance for the Colorado Music Educators Conference, have performed and toured with the United States Air Force Academy Band, and have made guest appearances with the Arapahoe Philharmonic in Denver and with the Pueblo Symphony. Abendmusik’s local concerts are always free and open to the public. http://www.abendmusikchorus.org/
