* No Hagah Zoom Discussion*
Sunday, November 22, 2020
Pastor Jonathan will continue to offer his after worship discussion group on Sundays at 11:30 a.m. However, beginning on October 4, there will be an added component! Pastor Jonathan recorded videos with his colleague from Missouri to help our congregations better know our identity as Disciples. The YouTube channel is entitled DOCTableTalk. If you want to subscribe to the channel and/or see the videos, please click here.
For each Sunday, please watch the 11-20 minute videos on YouTube. If you are interested, please ask Pastor Jonathan for the Zoom link to participate in the discussion. If you are unable to watch the videos, please contact Pastor Jonathan. If you are unable to participate on Sundays at 11:30, you are more than welcome to watch the videos and send your reflections and questions to Pastor Jonathan to share with the group.
October 4 - Introduction and Communion (this is also World Communion Sunday, the text for this day is about the Passover)
October 11 - Scripture
October 18 - Covenant
October 25 - Baptism
November 1 - Faith & Reason
November 8 - Local Church
November 15 - Regional Church
November 22 - General Church
The goal of the group is to live out the Hebrew word for meditate - hagah. You can find it in scripture - Joshua 1:8 (“meditate on the Book of the Law”) and Psalm 1:1-3 ("...who meditates on God’s law day and night”). The word hagah means to ponder, imagine, study, ruminate, and talk about scripture. This creative way of playing/wrestling with scripture is a wonderful way to respectfully engage scripture with others without judgment.
During this time, we will be sharing our reflections upon the scripture of the day from which Pastor Jonathan preached. You are invited to grab a bite of food, pour some coffee, and bring your Bible as we hagah upon scripture.
In order to participate, please email Pastor Jonathan directly, so that he can give you the information to enter the Zoom meeting.
