Communion Server
The Communion Servers assist the Pastor in passing out communion to the congregation and collecting the offering.
1) WHEN: They gather at the back of the sanctuary during the communion hymn and walk forward once the Pastor has moved to the table.
2) HOW: They will serve each other the bread and juice. Each server chooses one side of the congregation either from the outside aisle or the inside aisle. The trays are passed back and forth until all are served. The empty trays are placed in the parlor and the offering trays are distributed. The servers walk back to the front while the music continues.
3) NEXT STEP: Once the Worship Leader has completed the Offering Meditation, you collect the offering in the same way you distributed the communion. Once all of the offering has been collected, 2 designated servers take it and place it on the communion table until after the service is over. Then those same 2 take it to the work room where someone from the Finance Committee will meet them to count it and place it in the safe. As part of the role, please collect the used communion cups in the pew backs, empty the trays of unused communion cups into the trash, and stack the communion trays in the sacristy (through the sanctuary side door).
Greeters
The Greeters welcome everyone to worship, hand out bulletins, count those in attendance, and help direct people to places (i.e. bathroom or nursery).
1) WHEN: The Greeters gather at the doors to the sanctuary 15 minutes prior to the start of service.
2) HOW: The bulletins (programs) will be placed in baskets. As people enter the sanctuary, please provide them with a warm greeting and a bulletin. Direct families with children to the clipboards and Kid's Bulletins, which are on the last pew.
3) NEXT STEP: The greeters are also responsible for counting the number of people in worship and in the nursery, during the anthem. It is best to count those in worship during communion because some people arrive late. Sheets for counting are found in the workroom. At the end of the service, please pick up all of the trash (bulletins left in the pews) and the sign-in sheets (from the red books at the center aisle of the pews). Then return the sign-in sheets and the counting sheet to the counter in the work room.
Information Desk
The Information Desk Host greets everyone as they pass by the Information Desk, answers questions, directs people to the right places, and manages the sign-up sheets for various events.
1) WHEN: The Information Desk Host will be at the information desk from 8:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. and then again following worship, until 11:45 a.m.
2) HOW: Please sit or stand behind the Information Desk and welcome people as they pass you. If asked for directions or where to park, please refer to the cheat sheet behind the desk or the parking maps to your left in the basket.
3) NEXT STEP: The Information Desk Host is also responsible for letting worship staff know when new sign-up sheets are needed or when we run out of things like nametags, pens, etc. It is important that you stay after worship as well, because many people will have questions regarding the bulletin or announcements from worship.
