This Week at FCC!
Welcome-
As we prepare for virtual worship on Sunday, here are a couple of informational items and helpful hints.
1. Join us on Facebook Live at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday Morning.
Instructions for viewing via Facebook Live: Go to https://www.facebook.com/firstchristiancos.org/
If you are watching during the church service, scroll down the page until you see the live video. Click on the video and make sure the volume on your computer is up. If you are watching after the time of the service, you will see "Videos" in the left-hand column. Click Videos, and then click on the picture of the date you would like to watch. (The most recent video will be first.)
If you are not on Facebook, you may call in: (605) 472-5268 or toll free at (844) 844-0414. You may call either number, then, when prompted, give the room code - 101646, and then press #. Please mute your phone or plan to be in a quiet place in your home with no background noise. Even though the number will prompt you to say your name, please just connect silently.
You may find Sunday's BULLETIN HERE. Words to the hymns are included in the order of service, so please join in the singing!
3. Please have your communion elements with you when worship begins.
4. We encourage you to continue to make a weekly offering to FCC! You may continue to give online via Paypal from our website (scroll to the bottom of the page and click the DONATE button), sending your check in the mail, or giving through our NEW app! See directions for downloading the new app below, or simply click on this link to give. You can also Text to Give 719-626-8633; then the app will ask you for payment information.
5. To get ready to worship at home with your kids, you do not have to have anything special. But as people who understand and experience worship and learning in multi-sensory ways, we encourage you help get ready for our time together with the following updates and items.
- Candle (any kind) and a way to light the candle
- Crayons/Markers/Colored Pencils
- Drawing Paper and/or Kids Bulletin (VIEW AND DOWNLOAD HERE)
- Communion/Feast: (Juice, Crackers, etc.)
Sermon Preview
The story of the early church was one of hope in a new humanity. Yet, human tendencies ended up in the community within which God was trying to better the world. We see how divisions over language and culture were prime in the early church. We see either preferential treatment for one’s tribe or a lack of awareness of those most vulnerable. We see a desire from some to go back to a “golden time.” We hear from others that that time was not so “golden.” The story ends with stones being thrown. For many of us, this story is nothing new. It is the same pattern that we have experienced for years. On Sunday, April 18, as we look at Acts 6:1-72a, 44-60, Pastor Jonathan will share his sermon entitled “Blindness Towards One’s Tribe.”
