Colorado Springs Based Agencies
Golden Circle Nutrition Program
Also known around our church as the "Acacia Meals Program," this program is an outgrowth of the Colorado Springs Housing Authority mission to provide affordable housing and other basic necessities to low-income seniors. FCC serves in a rotation with other volunteer groups. We take 6-8 people, usually 3 times per year, and serve a Sunday noon meal at the Acacia Apartments.
Ecumenical Social Ministries (ESM)
FCC is one of the 8 founding downtown churches that established ESM in 1982. It is a christian outreach to homeless and low income people in crisis. The ESM ministries include: medicines, clothes, food pantry, rent assistance, counseling services, and job search assistance. FCC continues its strong support of ESM with monies from our tithe and dedicated special offerings, in-kind donations (e.g., food items), and volunteer service. An FCC member serves on the ESM board of directors. In 2010, FCC sent over $6000 to ESM.
Urban Peak
Urban Peak provides services for homeless and runaway youth, including: overnight shelter, case management (food, clothes, medical, job skills, GED), and a variety of counseling, mentoring, and support groups. FCC has a long-standing support relationship with Urban Peak. In 2010, the congreagation gave $1200 to Urban Peak.
