Music on the Labyrinth

Check out our 2019 Season!
All programs are on Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. on the labyrinth on the south side of the church. Invite a couple of friends, bring chairs or blankets (or just sit on the labyrinth wall), and enjoy some fun music on a lovely summer evening. Ice water and cookies served. An ice-cream truck will be on our property for you to purchase ice cream! Programs will move indoors for inclement weather; no cancellations. Free will offering.

JUNE 15: Joe and Katie Uveges
Joe Uveges has been performing and writing songs on Colorado's front range for more than 22 years now. He has eight studio albums under his belt, a movie credit, publishing credits (Goodnight Kiss Music), and 130 plus shows a year for the last 15 years. A consummate veteran of concerts of every type, Joe weaves a performer's magic in numerous settings with grace and humor. As a five-time Winner of the Reader's choice Gazette “Best Of” in Colorado Springs, his most recent awards include “Solo Musician of the Year” (2011, 2012) and “Best Video to Touch the Heart” (2014) with daughter Katie Uveges (produced by Steven Norris). Joe's most recent recording was a duo project with singer/songwriter Stephanie Pauline of “More than Music” ministries on a country disc entitled When the Smoke Clears. Joe also has performed in numerous churches in a wide variety of denominations.

June 29: Alicia Baker
Virtuoso accordionist
Alicia Baker is a classically trained accordionist, pianist, and singer from Portland, OR, currently residing in Denver, CO. She has performed on various stages, from the operatic stage to the headlining spot at accordion festivals. Alicia has explored her many avenues of musical ability in both performance and educational venues. She received 3 bachelor of music degrees from Oregon State University, including piano performance, vocal performance, and choral education, in addition to a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from University of Colorado Boulder in 2017. Alicia’s repertoire spans a wide variety of musical genres amongst her instruments, including french musettes, opera, folk songs, jazz standards, polkas, contemporary, classical, romantic, techno and popular hits throughout the decades. Peak Big Band is one of the premier big bands in Southern Colorado, under the direction of Fred Martinez. Members have played with jazz greats including Bill Watrous, Woody Herman, Glen Miller, and Maynard Ferguson. Several musicians have roots with the NORAD band. The Peak Big Band plays a wide range of big band music, ranging from 40s swing to Latin Jazz to modern Big Band arrangements.

July 27: All Those Who Wander
All Those Who Wander is a folk music project by Colorado songwriter and vocalist/guitarist Nick Booker, in collaboration with Anthony Vick on fiddle and Forrest Alvarez on mandolin and vocals. His work is characterized by his own vivid small town storytelling as well as the unique retelling of stories both ancient and modern. From fast and furious Bluegrass to old world Celtic, and of course, original songs that are the product of both, All Those Who Wander is both a realization and a revival of the folk tradition. The project walks in the footsteps of great and varied folk artists such as Stan Rogers and Old Crow Medicine Show while paving the way with new stories and new ways of telling them. |

August 10: Academy Jazz Ensemble
The AJE is a professional big band whose mission is to explore and preserve the music of America's original art form. The membership includes the finest jazz musicians in the area, many of whom are public school teachers. Our repertoire spans from rare and historical big band works to some of the newest original music for contemporary jazz bands. Our music book represents the passion and poise this ensemble brings to the stage. This passion makes the Academy Jazz Ensemble a unique voice in the Jazz community.
